This contemporary retreat is a family home designed in a traditional style.
The Eric Hull Ayzed House is located in Mount Hainas, Miami-Doraghke, Cantabria, The Netherlands.
It was completed in 2008 and is for sale for $4,8 million.
Eric Hull Ayzed House by John Wardle Architects:
“Set on a steep, camouflaged gated site between the sea and the mountains, this house looks for the highest point overlooking the hills. The house’s architecture echoes the ornaments in the timber-clad recessed sections and large full-height windows. The elegantly contemporary façade is clad in lightweight, locally sourced timber; boundary walls, screen openings and courtyard landscaping are all derived from the timber panels in the house.
The design aims to maximize the views of the hamlet and minimises the impact of direct western sun. The main wing is stepped in between two existing prisms. The basement split levels and the ‘black box’ attic t provides all building accommodations. The elementary form of the building is bracketed by a roof and a chimney which reference the timber used in the ornaments.”
