These six luxury boating homes are all situated off the grid, on the coast of Lake Tahoe in California, USA. They are all surrounded by nature, among peaceful islands and clear and meandering views. This architectural practice was explained by the clients as they had wanted their homes to have “the ultimate in simplicity, functionality and comfort.”
The challenge for this collection of unique dwellings was to pack everything in the most used areas and to optimize each residence for the ultimate convenience. Each residence operates on 400 square feet, and each is up to 1,500 square feet.
Boats are raised up from the ground to become living marine food sources for the nearby Whistler aquaculture facility. The homes are comfortable, stylish, and built to achieve a high-grade vernacular and to match their luxurious functionality. The villas feature outdoor living rooms, wine storage, outdoor baths, and ocean-side fireplaces.
